A 12-inch water main break in the Cahuenga Pass area interrupted service to 39 customers and caused a sinkhole in the neighborhood, it was reported Monday.

It happened about 10 p.m. Sunday in the 3400 block of Cahuenga Boulevard West, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department. There were no injuries, evacuations or structures threatened, Humphrey said.

Crews from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power were sent to the scene, utility spokesman Albert Rodriguez said.

There was damage to the street and sidewalk, Rodriguez said. The water resulted in a large sinkhole, according to a news videographer at the scene.
