A fire that erupted Tuesday in an RV parked on a Winchester road consumed the vehicle and extended into brush, prompting a full closure of the corridor.
The non-injury blaze was reported just after 4 p.m. in the area of Borel and Bootlegg roads, roughly a half-mile southwest of the Lake Skinner Reservoir, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames raging in the RV, from which the occupants had safely escaped.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire that had spread into surrounding vegetation, and spent another 20 minutes working to stop the blaze in the RV, which was fully contained at 4:30 p.m., according to reports from the scene.
California Highway Patrol officers initially shut down both sides of Borel for public safety. However, the corridor was partially reopened by 4:35 p.m.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
