A gas leak about two miles south of the Commerce Metrolink Station shut down train service between Commerce and Norwalk Sunday.

Around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, a work crew struck a gas line, Metrolink spokesman Scott Johnson said.

The commuter train’s Orange County and 91/Perris Valley lines were suspended all day today, Johnson said.

“Local authorities have stopped all rail traffic down there and we are at a standstill,” Johnson said.

Metrolink passengers were bused between Union Station and Norwalk, and service was delayed up to one hour, Johnson said.

Metrolink and Amtrak encouraged passengers via Twitter to use Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner train instead, which runs along the coast from Los Angeles to San Diego.

The tracks were expected to reopen by 6 p.m., officials said.

No injuries were reported.

The Orange County line operates weekends from Los Angeles Union Station to Oceanside. The 91/Perris Valley line runs from Los Angeles Union Station to south Perris.
