A fire at a residence in Walnut Thursday left one person dead and two other people injured, authorities said.

The fire was reported about 10 a.m. in the 600 block of North Rocking Horse Road.

One person died at the scene, another person was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, and a third person was treated at the scene for a minor injury, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

An earlier report from the sheriff’s department had indicated that two people died.

Firefighters extinguished the flames and found one person dead, the fire department reported. Information on the fatally injured person’s identity was not immediately available.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
