A big rig carrying a load of grapes veered off Interstate 10 and went airborne off a bridge before landing on the street below Saturday.
The crash was reported about 5:30 a.m. on the westbound side of the freeway, with the truck landing on 22nd Street.
The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital, according to the California Highway Patrol.
“Luckily, there was no one below at the time of the collision,” the CHP said.
Caltrans crews cleaned up the spilled grapes and repaired guardrail damage before reopening the 22nd Street off-ramp.
