A total of eight people, including four children, were displaced Tuesday evening after a fire tore through the garage and part of a two-story home in Beaumont.
Firefighters responded to the 1600 block of Mesquite Vista, east of Beaumont Avenue, about 10:05 p.m. and found heavy fire coming from the garage and extending to the second floor of the home, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
A knockdown was called at 10:36 p.m., the department said.
The Red Cross was called in to assist the four adults and four children displaced by the fire.
