Fire tore through a strip mall in El Monte Saturday morning, burning for about an hour before firefighters extinguished the flames.

Crews were sent to the 10000 block of Valley Boulevard at 2:30 a.m. and encountered heavy flames coming from the one-story building, which had sustained fire damage about a month earlier, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

A total of 25 firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and a knock down was called about 3:30 a.m., the department said.

No injuries were reported. Roads in the immediate area of the fire were closed until further notice.
