A search was underway Thursday in the ocean near the Santa Monica Pier for a swimmer who was reported missing.
The search involved personnel from the U.S. Coast Guard, according to a representative of the agency.
According to CBS2, a friend reported to a lifeguard tower about 10 p.m. Wednesday that the swimmer went missing, and Los Angeles County lifeguards, assisted by a county fire helicopter crew, initiated a search.
The identity and age of the missing person was not disclosed.
