A woman and her 4-year-old daughter were hospitalized in critical condition after being rescued from an apartment fire in Long Beach early Thursday, authorities said.
The two-alarm fire was reported in a third-floor apartment in the 1000 block of Stanley Avenue just after midnight, Long Beach Fire Department spokesman Jake Heflin said.
There were four residents at the apartment, but only two — the 47-year- old woman and her daughter — were there at the time of the fire, Heflin said.
About 50 firefighters took just over 10 minutes to knock down the blaze, Heflin said. The cause of the fire was under investigation, he said.
