A 55-hour closure of lanes on the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway in East Los Angeles will begin at 10 p.m. Friday, Caltrans announced Thursday.
The closure between the Long Beach (710) Freeway and Woods Avenue will last until 5 a.m. Monday.
A series of 55-hour lane closures on the Pomona Freeway between the Long Beach and San Gabriel River (605) freeways are scheduled during a pavement rehabilitation project, meant to “extend the life of the existing lanes by a minimum of 40 years and improve ride quality,” Caltrans said.
Atkinson Construction of Irvine was contracted to perform the $107 million construction project, which is expected to be completed in winter of 2024-25.
Residents and businesses near the construction may notice noise, vibrations and dust, according to Caltrans.
“Motorists should expect delays and are strongly advised to use alternate routes,” Caltrans said.
