Caltrans Friday announced overnight closures of parts of the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in the Norwalk area, beginning Friday evening and continuing into next week, so crews can grind, stripe, and shift traffic lanes.
The closures, which are subject to change, are planned as follows:
Between 11:59 p.m. Friday evening and 5 a.m. Saturday:
— northbound I-5 will be closed from Norwalk Boulevard to the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway; and
— southbound I-5: three left lanes will be closed from I-605 to Imperial Highway. The three left lanes will be closed from Rosecrans Boulevard to Artesia Boulevard from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. All lanes will be closed from Imperial Highway to Rosecrans Avenue from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m.
Between 11 p.m. Sunday and 5 a.m. Monday:
— southbound I-5 will be closed between I-605 and Norwalk Boulevard; and
— northbound and southbound I-605 connectors to southbound I-5 will be closed starting at 10 p.m.
On the nights of Monday-Thursday:
— southbound I-5 will be closed between I-605 and Norwalk Boulevard from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.;
— northbound I-5 will be closed between Norwalk Boulevard and I-605 from 11:59 p.m. to 5 a.m.; and
— northbound and southbound I-605 connectors to southbound I-5 will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
And a week from Friday evening, the northbound I-5 will be closed between Norwalk Boulevard and I-605 from 11:59 p.m. to 5 a.m. Saturday, March 13.
Alternate route: use southbound I-5 to southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway to eastbound Artesia (91) Freeway back to I-5, and the reverse route for northbound traffic.
