A Coachella man accused of possessing a large stash of cocaine and methamphetamine, as well as multiple firearms, was in custody Thursday in lieu of $150,000 bail.

Martin Alejo-Trujillo, 27, was arrested Wednesday and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio on suspicion of possessing both cocaine and methamphetamine for sale, negligent discharge of a firearm and possessing narcotics while armed.

Sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant about 6 a.m. Wednesday at a home in the 84-400 block of Julia Drive in Coachella in connection with an ongoing shooting investigation, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Sgt. Mariano Matos III said deputies found one pound of methamphetamine, about a pound and a half of cocaine, two shotguns, two handguns, one rifle, a scale and a “large sum of U.S. currency” at the location.

Additional information about the shooting investigation was not released.

Alejo-Trujillo is scheduled to appear at the Larson Justice Center in Indio as soon as Friday.
