The Riverside County coroner’s office Saturday named the 39-year-old man who died when an SUV plunged off of the 91/15 interchange in Corona, landing on a city street and critically injuring a second occupant.
The crash happened at about 4:30 p.m. Friday as the SUV was transitioning from the eastbound Riverside (91) Freeway to the northbound Interstate 15 bridge, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency said the vehicle veered off the transition for unknown reasons and came down on its front end at the intersection of Cresta Road and Parkridge Avenue.
Corona Fire Department paramedics reached the location within a few minutes and pronounced one of the occupants dead at the scene, while another was taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to the CHP.
The man killed was identified by the coroner’s office as Alex Bonilla of Corona.
No other vehicles were involved.
