A motorist killed when his vehicle plowed into a retaining wall adjacent to a Riverside (91) Freeway exit ramp near downtown Riverside was identified Tuesday as a 71-year-old resident of the city.
Nicolas Hindu was fatally injured about 8 a.m. Monday at the Arlington Avenue off-ramp from the eastbound 91, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities said Hindu was at the wheel of a black Cadillac that apparently went out of control, crashed through a guardrail and hit the wall.
Riverside Fire Department paramedics reached the location within a few minutes and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The ramp was shut down for more than two hours while a preliminary investigation was conducted.
