“The Flash” opened with $55.1 million this weekend to top all films in North America, according to industry estimates released Sunday.

Despite handily taking the weekend crown, it was a disappointing total for the much-hyped superhero film that stars Ezra Miller in the title role and features Michael Keaton reprising his role as Batman.

“The Flash” beat out Pixar’s animated adventure “Elemental,” which opened with $29.5 million, Comscore reported.

“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” was third with $27.8 million in its third weekend in theaters in the United States and Canada.

Fourth place went to “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” which took in $20 million Friday through Sunday in its second week, followed by “The Little Mermaid,” with $11.6 million in its fourth week.

Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases, as estimated by Comscore, were “The Blackening” ($6 million), “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3” ($5 million), “The Boogeyman” ($3.8 million), “Fast X” ($2 million) and “Adipurush (TELUGU)” ($1.6 million).

This weekend’s overall three-day box office haul was estimated at $167 million. The year-to-date total is $4.158 billion — an increase of 23% over the figure at this time last year, according to Comscore.
