A brush fire scorched about 25 acres of vegetation in the Topanga hills Wednesday, but there were no immediate reports of structural damage or injuries.

The fire broke out shortly before 2:30 p.m. in the area of Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Santa Maria Road in the hills south of Woodland Hills and Tarzana. It was unclear what sparked the fire.

Los Angeles County and city fire crews responded to the blaze, and by late afternoon, fire officials said the brusher was about 20% contained.

At the height of the fire, Topanga Canyon Boulevard was closed between Pacific Coast Highway and Mulholland Drive to all motorists except local residents, but the roadway was reopened by late afternoon.
