Two people were killed and one suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Desert Center Saturday.
The crash was reported just before 1 p.m. Saturday on Highway 177 near mile marker 13, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
A 54-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene and another 54-year-old woman was extricated from a vehicle and rushed by air ambulance to a hospital with serious injuries.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Torres, the 24-year-old woman was southbound in a Subaru Forester on Highway 177 when she allegedly crossed over the broken yellow lines and crashed head-on into a Honda Pilot occupied by a 54-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman. Both vehicles overturned.
Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the crash, Torres said.
The CHP closed down both sides of Highway 177 for an unknown duration.
