A vacant, abandoned Riverside house was allowed to burn Saturday while firefighters protected nearby structures.
The fire was reported at 4:56 p.m. Saturday in the 8500 block of Indiana Avenue, according to Riverside Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Allen.
“Crews quickly began a defensive attack on the fire,” Allen said.
Firefighters checked to be sure there were no people inside, he said.
The flames were out at 5:44 p.m. with no civilian or firefighter injuries reported, Allen said.
