Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm will visit Menifee and Temecula in an attempt to highlight the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to building an equitable clean energy future, the U.S Department of Energy announced Friday.

On Monday at 8:30 a.m., Granholm will host an embargoed press call with White House National Climate Advisor Ali Zaidi to announce the Biden-Harris Administration’s latest efforts to accelerate clean energy development in rural and remote communities, said the department.

At 3 that afternoon, Granholm will later travel to Menifee to visit a Department of Energy-funded regional Connected Communities project being developed by KB Home, Schneider Electric, Southern California Edison and SunPower. The project has helped develop two all-electric communities with more than 230 zero-energy homes being powered by solar energy, according to the department.

On Tuesday, Granholm will join more than 700 tribal leaders, staff and partners at 9:30 a.m. on the homelands of the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians in Temecula for the 2024 Department of Energy’s Tribal Clean Energy Summit. At the summit, the secretary will underscore President Biden’s commitment to strengthening engagement with Tribal nations to ensure the buildout of an inclusive clean energy economy and announce the administration’s latest efforts to enhance Tribal energy sovereignty.
