The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped for the 13th consecutive day Sunday, decreasing seven-tenths of a cent to $5.164.
The average price has fallen 12.6 cents over the past 13 days, including 1.6 cents Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 7.9 cents less than one week ago and 11.9 cents less than one month ago, but 39.7 cents more than one year ago. The average price has dropped $1.209 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The national average price dropped seven-tenths of a cent to $3.619. It is 3.4 cents less than one week and 1.5 cents less than one month ago, but 7.7 cents higher than one year ago. It has dropped $1.397 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
“Tepid pre-Memorial Day domestic demand and oil costs below $80 a barrel are the likely reasons for the dropping prices nationally,” according to Andrew Gross, an AAA national public relations manager. “Most consumers will probably see pump prices barely budging for now.”
