A 43-year-old woman who was fatally stabbed during an attack in Wilmington that also injured a man was identified Tuesday by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
Officers responded to the 900 block of North Banning Boulevard, near Anaheim Street, shortly before 12:40 a.m. Sunday and found a man and a woman suffering from stab wounds, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
She was later identified by the Department of Medical Examiner as Mayra Oviedo Orellana.
The second victim, a 39-year-old man, was taken to a hospital with stable vital signs.
According to police, the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Henry Briones, was taken into custody at the scene and booked on suspicion of murder. There was no immediate information on what led to the attack.
