A 26-year-old man who was killed when he ran in front of an SUV on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Carson was identified Tuesday by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 10:52 p.m. Sunday on the northbound San Diego Freeway near the Carson Street off-ramp, according to the department.

The person who notified the CHP said a man ran in front of her vehicle and she hit him.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified as Alex Madrid, according to the medical examiner.

The white Nissan SUV and pedestrian wound up on the right shoulder, so a SigAlert was not needed, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.
