A grass fire that broke out Monday on the west end of Jurupa Valley scorched roughly two acres and threatened a home before it was stopped.
The non-injury “Dodd Fire” was reported at 4:25 p.m. in the area of Dodd Street and Jurupa Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Responding crews encountered flames moving at a moderate rate through high grass immediately adjacent to a property.
Firefighters quickly deployed for structure protection and prevented the flames from reaching the house.
At 4:50 p.m., the fire’s forward rate of spread was stopped. Full containment was expected by 6 p.m., according to reports from the scene.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
