Peso Pluma will take the stage Friday at Acrisure Arena.

The Mexican singer-songwriter is in the midst of the United States leg of his “Éxodo Tour.”

Peso Pluma has exploded in popularity in recent years, from releasing his debut album in 2020 to dropping “Génesis” in 2023, which earned Platinum status and a Grammy Award earlier this year.

At the moment, Peso Pluma (born Hassan Laija) has more than 50 million monthly Spotify listeners — he currently ranks 48th in the world in that metric, occupying the spot between Harry Styles and Elton John.

His music primarily falls under the genre “corridos tumbados,” a modern style of ballad, but incorporates elements of Latin hip-hop and reggaeton as well. His most well-known song, “QLONA,” a collaboration with Karol G, is a sexy, downtempo track that topped the Billboard Hot Latin Songs charts and peaked at No. 28 on the overall Hot 100.

Unannounced guests are a strong possibility during the “Éxodo Tour.” The singer has already featured a wide range of surprise appearances at earlier tour dates, from Saweetie and Snoop Dogg to Becky G and Cypress Hill.

Friday’s concert is Peso Pluma’s eighth of nine consecutive California shows, having already played in Sacramento, Anaheim, Inglewood, San Francisco and San Jose. After Saturday’s performance in Fresno and a Sept. 17 date in San Diego, the singer will continue the tour throughout North America before wrapping up in mid-October.
