Firefighters were attempting to contain a blaze at an abandoned single-story house in Coachella Tuesday.
The fire was reported shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Calendula Avenue and Hibisco Street, according to a Riverside County Fire Department statement. The first unit in the area noted smoke emanating from the dwelling.
Fire crews reported “good progress” toward containment and promised to remain on-site for approximately two hours.
The intersection was closed while crews worked on the fire.
