It took firefighters 49 minutes to put out flames in the first floor of a two-story commercial building in downtown Los Angeles Monday morning.

The fire was reported at 3:10 a.m. at 938 E. 12th St., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Margaret Stewart. Smoke was showing when firefighters arrived.

“The fire was on the first floor and crews prevented it from extending up to the second or the adjacent structures,” Stewart said.

The flames were out at 3:59 a.m. with no injuries reported, she said.
