A 43-year-old man killed by a suspect who police believe targeted him before the fatal shooting and who also stands accused of killing a woman in Koreatown was identified Thursday.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s office identified the victim as Jorge Guerrero Hurtado, 43. Police said Hurtado was riding an electric bicycle prior to being shot. According to NBC4, Hurtado was found next to the bicycle in front of a residence, suffering from at least five gunshot wounds.

On Tuesday at 4:20 p.m., officers went to the 900 block of South Victoria Avenue in the Mid-Wilshire area on a report of a shooting, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

“Officers arrived and were directed to a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds,” police said in a statement. “He was pronounced deceased at scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics. Later, it was learned the suspect intentionally struck the victim with his vehicle prior to shooting him.”

Marvin Magana, 50, of Los Angeles was arrested and booked on suspicion of Hurtado’s murder as well as the killing of the woman who was found dead in Koreatown Tuesday evening. Magana was being held on $3 million bail, the LAPD reported.

According to the LAPD, Magana walked into the 77th Area Station at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and told police there was a woman who was dead in the 800 block of South Berendo Street.

The officers “were directed to a vehicle located in the 800 block of South Berendo Street with a deceased 38-year-old female in the passenger’s seat,” police said in a statement. “She suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim deceased.”

The woman’s name was withheld, pending notification of her relatives.

“The suspect responsible for both murders walked into 77th Area station and was identified as Marvin Magana …” the police statement said. “This case will be presented for filing consideration at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office (today).”
