An 8-year-old boy who was killed in a multi-vehicle collision near Azusa was identified Friday.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to state Route 39 and East Fork Road at about 5:10 p.m. Thursday regarding a vehicle collision and when they arrived at the scene, they found a gray Honda Accord and a black SUV blocking several lanes, Officer Sean Lough told City News Service.
A boy was pronounced dead at the scene and several people were taken to hospitals with unknown injuries. The boy was identified Friday by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner as 8-year-old Xavier Ocegueda of La Puente.
The CHP issued a SigAlert that closed state Route 39 for six hours while officers investigated the cause of the crash.
