A 20-year-old man was killed when he crashed his SUV into a horse trailer pulled by a pickup on the Pomona (60) Freeway in Diamond Bar causing the SUV to overturn into the HOV lane, authorities said Thursday.
The crash occurred at about 8:40 a.m. Wednesday on the eastbound Pomona Freeway east of Golden Springs Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deceased driver was identified as Jose Santos Nolasco, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Nolasco was driving a 2000 Toyota 4Runner eastbound at an undetermined speed when he crashed into the horse trailer pulled by a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup, the CHP said.
Nolasco’s vehicle overturned and came to rest on its right side in the HOV lane, the CHP said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and passenger of the pickup were not injured, the CHP said.
Alcohol and/or drugs were not believed to have been factors in the crash, the CHP said.
