A 31-year-old Santa Ana man pleaded guilty Wednesday to attacking a man in his 60s in Newport Beach.
Steven Soliz pleaded guilty to assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury and inflicting injury on an elder adult, both felonies, as well as a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest. He also admitted sentencing enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury on the victim.
Soliz attacked a man who was about 68 or 69 around noon Feb. 19 last year near Crystal Cove State Park, according to Newport Beach police Sgt. Steve Oberon. It was not clear what provoked the attack, Oberon said.
Soliz was scheduled to be sentenced March 24 in the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach.
