One person was found dead inside an apartment complex in Lake Forest after firefighters extinguished a two-alarm fire, the Orange County Fire Authority reported Friday.

Dispatchers at the fire authority’s emergency command center received multiple 911 calls for a fire at 11:01 p.m. Thursday at an apartment complex in the 21000 block of Camelia Drive. When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found flames threatening surrounding units of the complex, fire officials said.

A second alarm was requested as firefighters attacked the fire and began a search for residents. During their search, firefighters found one of the occupants dead inside a unit.

Fire crews were able to prevent the blaze from extending to the other parts of the building, authorities said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and investigators from the OCFA are at the scene and working with Orange County Sheriff’s Department personnel about the cause of the fire.
