The Palm Springs Police Department issued a statement Thursday urging residents to check their properties for hidden cameras following the discovery of a recording device disguised as plants and grass in a local yard.
Officers said that the camera was located in the Las Palmas neighborhood, but did not elaborate on any suspects, possible motives or when the device was detected.
“While this is the only reported incident so far, we want to ensure residents are aware and taking precautions,” said Lieutenant of Investigations William Hutchinson of the Palm Springs Police Department in the statement.
The department encouraged homeowners to inspect the yard, paying particular attention to landscaping and potted plants, while reporting suspicious-looking devices without touching them as to not compromise potential evidence. Reflective lenses and unusual, wire-shaped attachments were also mentioned as possible indicators.
