Mostly dry weather and warmer temperatures are expected through next week in Riverside County after a strong winter storm brought heavy rain and snow to the region — setting record rainfall totals in some areas.

Weekend, skies will be clear, with mostly sunny conditions region-wide, according to the National Weather Service said.

The mercury will generally climb back into the upper 60s and low 70s during daylight hours, dipping to around 40 at night, forecasters said.

A brief cooling period is expected early next week, with increased onshore flow, then minor warming and another round of weak offshore flow is expected for the middle to latter part of next week.

During this week’s rainstorms, Palm Springs recorded 0.86 inches of rain, breaking the record for the day of 0.84 inches set in 1992. In Ramona, 1.66 inches of rain was recorded, breaking the record for the day of 1.53 inches set in 2001. In Riverside, 1.23 inches of rain was recorded, breaking the record for the day of 0.93 inches set in 1980.

Highs Saturday will range from 66 to 69 in the Riverside County valleys and the Inland Empire, from 54 to 61 in the mountains and around 75 in the Coachella Valley, with wind gusts of up to 20 mph.
