A man is recovering Friday from burn injuries sustained in an explosion possibly ignited by fireworks at a home in Pacoima, where four dogs were found.

Firefighters were dispatched about 9 a.m. Thursday to 13556 W. Remington St., where they reported a partial collapse of the structure, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz.

Lantz said the man, approximately 24 years old, was taken to a hospital in critical condition after the explosion, with burns covering over 50% of his body, according to Fox 11.

Fox 11 reported over two dozen homes remain under evacuation Friday.

Four dogs were located and are safe. One was on a leash.

Lantz said the LAFD Arson unit was investigating the cause of the explosion.

According to Fox 11, it appears someone inside the residence was making fireworks.

Officials were at the scene to address the structural integrity of the home, prior to allowing firefighters to enter the residence.
