
A drunken driver was chased by CHP officers and crashed his SUV into a car in southwest Los Angeles Sunday, injuring both drivers, CHP officers allege.
The 35-year-old suspect suffered major injuries following the chase in the Westmont community of unincorporated Los Angeles County.
CHP officers said spotted a man in a black 2015 Kia Optima make a right turn from an improper lane at 3:13 a.m., from eastbound Century Boulevard to southbound Normandie Avenue, the CHP reported.
Officers tried to conduct a routine traffic stop and the motorist failed to stop, and turned west from Normandie on 103rd Street, then ran through several stop signs.
The Kia crashed into a 2005 Landrover at 103rd Street and Western Avenue, sending the Landrover careening into a building.
Paramedics rushed both motorists to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, where the 35-year-old Kia driver was treated for major injuries.
The driver in the 2005 Landrover was a 68-year-old woman from Los Angeles, she was treated for minor injuries.
The driver of the Kia, also a resident of Los Angeles, was arrested for evading a peace officer and driving under the influence of alcohol.
