A 23-year-old man was struck and killed by a truck early Friday while walking along the Long Beach (710) Freeway in Long Beach.
California Highway Patrol officers were called at 12:03 a.m. Friday to the northbound portion of the freeway near the Wardlow Road exit where they found the pedestrian, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by Long Beach Fire Department personnel.
He was identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner as Jose Spoonemore.
Kravig said the CHP issued a SigAlert for the closure of three lanes of the northbound Long Beach Freeway in the vicinity of the Wardlow Road exit for three hours while the cause of the collision was investigated.
