A 32-year-old man is in police custody Saturday on suspicion of fatally stabbing a 43-year-old woman in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of South Los Angeles who police said was his girlfriend, authorities said Saturday.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southwest Division responded at 10:47 p.m. Friday to the 1800 block of West Adams Boulevard between Dalton and Halldale avenues regarding a stabbing, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.
When the officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from stab wounds. Witnesses told officers the suspect was nearby and they arrested him at the scene.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.
Police are investigating the stabbing as a homicide, the LAPD spokesman said.
The LAPD’s South Bureau Homicide Bureau is in charge of the investigation.
