Authorities Monday were investigating a pursuit that began with a search for a suspicious vehicle in La Quinta and ended in a crash involving a Riverside County sheriff’s deputy.
Deputies were searching for the vehicle around 10:06 p.m. Sunday in the 51000 block of Avenida Cortez, according to Lt. Deirdre Vickers of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The vehicle was later spotted near Avenue 52 and Jefferson Street. Deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the driver failed to yield, prompting a pursuit, Vickers said.
The chase ended in a collision involving the suspect’s vehicle and a sheriff’s patrol unit, according to Vickers.
Authorities did not disclose the circumstances that led to the collision or whether anyone was injured.
No arrests were made, and no additional details were immediately available.
