Two people were killed Tuesday in a multi-vehicle crash on the Ventura (101) Freeway in Studio City.
California Highway Patrol officers responded at 2:19 a.m. Tuesday to the westbound 101 and the Hollywood (170) Freeway junction with the Ventura (134) Freeway, near the Tujunga Avenue exit. They found that a black sedan, a gray SUV and a white semi-truck had been involved in the collision and were blocking some of the freeway lanes, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service.
The victims — whose names, ages and genders were not immediately known — were pronounced dead the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel.
A Sigalert was issued for the closure of all lanes of the northbound 170 Freeway and the westbound 101 Freeway at the Tujunga exit, Kravig said.
Traffic from the 101 Freeway was being diverted to Magnolia Boulevard and Moorpark Street.
Two westbound lanes of the 101 Freeway were reopened at about 6:30 a.m., the CHP reported.
