An at-risk 78-year-old woman was reported missing after being last seen Tuesday in Highland Park, prompting the issuance of a Silver Alert.

Amay Cabanillas was last seen at approximately 8 a.m. Tuesday near Pollard Street and Chestnut Avenue, just south of the Los Angeles-South Pasadena border, according to the California Highway Patrol, which activated the alert on behalf of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Cabanillas was described as a 5-foot-2-inch-tall woman weighing 140 pounds with brown hair and eyes. She was last seen wearing a black sweater, pants, and shoes.

Anyone with information regarding Cabanillas’ whereabouts was urged to call 911.

The CHP established the Silver Alert program to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearances of elderly, developmentally disabled, or cognitively impaired individuals.
