A fire broke out Wednesday in a Hollywood Hills apartment, prompting the evacuation of residents and the rescue of two cats, but no injuries were reported.
The blaze was reported at 9:20 a.m. in the 1800 block of North El Cerrito Place, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The occupants were safely evacuated and crews rescued the two pets, authorities said.
A total of 144 firefighters responded, and the two cats were treated by firefighters before being turned over to animal control, authorities said.
Crews kept the flames contained to the second-floor unit where the fire began in the three-story building, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
