The fourth in a series of monthly community cleanup events was held Saturday near where the Harbor (110) and Glenn Anderson (105) freeways meet, and in Wilmington and South Los Angeles.

Saturday’s Shine LA cleanups began at 8 a.m. at 256 W. 117th St. and 9 a.m. at 1206 E. Robidoux St. in Wilmington and 5730 Crenshaw Blvd. in South Los Angeles.

The first Shine LA event was held in April. They were inspired by the eight World Cup soccer games to be held at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood in 2026, along with the 2027 Super Bowl at the same venue and 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“We launched Shine LA to revitalize ALL our neighborhoods,” Mayor Karen Bass wrote on social media Friday. “Thousands of volunteers have shown up to clean, green and uplift our city.”
