Authorities sought the public’s assistance Wednesday in locating an abducted 3-year-old boy last seen in Los Angeles, prompting the issuance of an Amber Alert.

Tyshawn Tucker was last seen around 1 p.m. Tuesday with 29-year-old Ervin Tucker Jr., who is identified as a suspect in the abduction of Tyshawn, according to the California Highway Patrol, which activated the alert on behalf of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Tyshawn was described as a 3-foot-4-inch-tall boy weighing 60 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. It was unclear what he was wearing when he went missing.

Detectives described Ervin as 5-feet-9 inches tall and 208 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. They were unable to determine what he was wearing at the time he was last seen.

The relationship between the victim and suspect, if any, has not been determined. Ervin is believed to be traveling in a 2008 black Mercedes S550 with California license plate 9NWU220.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Tyshawn was urged to call 911.

The CHP Amber Alert program represents a coordinated effort among law enforcement, the community — via both traditional means and social media — and additional partners to deliver actionable information to the public regarding a missing person, to facilitate a swift and safe recovery.
