A 23-year-old man was killed and a 20-year-old man was critically injured in a solo vehicle crash in Fountain Valley, authorities said Saturday.
The crash occurred about 10:55 p.m. Friday near Brookhurst Street and Edinger Avenue, according to Fountain Valley Police Department Sgt. Jennifer Pratt.
Arriving officers found driver Henry GarciaCorrea dead at the scene, Pratt said. Passenger Jose Betancourt was taken by ambulance to a trauma center where he was critical but stable.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that drugs may have been a contributing factor in this collision,” the sergeant said. “The exact cause remains under investigation by the Fountain Valley Police Department’s Traffic Bureau.”
A news videographer at the scene said a sedan crashed into a tree in the center divider of the street.
