A motorcyclist killed in a collision near Lake Mathews was identified Monday as a 48-year-old Perris man.
Edgar Flores was fatally injured shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday on Cajalco Road, between Eagle Canyon Road and La Sierra Avenue, south of the lake, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency said Flores was riding his motorcycle at an unconfirmed speed eastbound when the bike struck a sedan, though the circumstances were not immediately clear.
Flores was hurled down an embankment.
The driver of the car, who apparently was not injured, stopped after the collision.
Riverside County Fire Department paramedics pronounced Flores dead at the scene less than 15 minutes later.
Officers partially shut down Cajalco while a preliminary investigation was conducted and the wreckage was cleared, which took several hours.
Officers questioned the motorist, whose identity wasn’t released, but there was no word on whether he was suspected of any wrongdoing in connection with the wreck.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the Riverside CHP office at 951-324-7210.
