The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Friday for the 10th time in 11 days, decreasing eight-tenths of a cent to $4.633.

The average price has dropped 8.3 cents over the past 11 days, including 1.2 cents Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It dropped six consecutive days, rose one-tenth of a cent Monday and resumed decreasing Tuesday.

The average price is 5.8 cents less than one week ago and 9.4 cents lower than one month ago but 7.7 cents more than one year ago. It has decreased $1.86 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price also dropped for the 10th time in 11 days, decreasing six-tenths of a cent to $4.585. It has fallen 10.1 cents over the past 11 days, including 1.3 cents Thursday. It dropped six consecutive days, was unchanged Monday and resumed falling Tuesday.

The Orange County average price is 7.7 cents less than one week ago and 11.6 cents lower than one month ago but 11.6 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.873 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.

“Oil Price Information Service and the California Energy Commission reported on Wednesday that California refinery production and gasoline inventory have risen in the past week, helping to put downward pressure on gas prices,” Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, said in a statement.

A three-day streak of increases to the national average price totaling 3.4 cents ended with a decrease of three-tenths of a cent to $3.068.

The national average price is 1.7 cents more than one week ago but 9.5 cents less than one month ago and 8.2 cents lower than one year ago. It has dropped $1.948 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
