A modified tactical alert was activated when officers faced off with a large, disorderly crowd near a special event in downtown Los Angeles, authorities said Sunday.
The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that a fire marshal was dispatched to First and Hill streets at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, where “a large crowd of individuals” was “acting unorderly and causing possible property damage to a passenger service vehicle,” LAFD spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton said.
The incident took place at an event sponsored by a skateboarding magazine, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Division.
“People attending the event vandalized property and failed to disperse when requested to do so,” according to a police statement. “As officers continued to attempt to disperse the crowd, a person riding a skateboard at speed, attempted to run into a line of officers. Others threw bottles and skateboard parts at the line of officers.”
One injured person was evaluated by paramedics, Middleton said. The patient’s gender, age and condition were not available.
“Officers were able to clear the streets with less than lethal tactics and the damaged vehicles and vandalized property is being documented,” according to the police statement.

I am starting to think maybe Los Angeles does need the National Guard to help control crime. Residents who live downtown deserve better than these violent out of control thugs. It’s the same with the bicycle and motorscooter gangs threatening good hardworking folks, assaulting them and destroying personal and business property that alot of folks work really hard for. They cause nothing but pain and hardship for those who live, work and own businesses downtown and these thugs do nothing but cost the taxpayers a ton of money to clean up after their chaos. I bet the majority of these offenders do not even live or work downtown. They are probably nepo babies from Bel Air or Orange County something. They would never get away with the crap they are pulling downtown in their own neighborhoods. Use face recognition, arrest them at their homes, jobs and schools, use any tactic available to lock these assholes up for a long time, maybe they will think twice before they participate in this type of activity again, even if they are juveniles, hunt them down and lock them up. Some of these assholes parents or family members have actually turned them into law inforcement when they see them on the news. It’s so weird they can cause so much destruction and the LAPD does nothing, nobody does anything. These criminals are super dangerous and have no respect for anyone or anything. Downtown residents work hard for what they have, only to have these total losers destroy everything. Of course, some could be paid by alt right groups, in order to justify ICE and the National Guard going in. Either way, these crimes need to be investigated and the perpetrators arrested and jailed.
