A woman was killed Saturday in a crash on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Sherman Oaks.
The crash occurred about 3:30 a.m. Saturday on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway south of Burbank Boulevard near the Ventura (101) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The preliminary investigation determined a Mazda sedan was involved in a solo crash and became disabled in lanes facing the wrong way, the CHP stated.
A Ford SUV then sideswiped the Mazda, and a Toyota SUV struck the sedan head-on.
The driver of the Mazda was pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified by the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner as 33-year-old Brittany Anthony. Her city of residence was not available.
The Toyota driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, the CHP stated. She was identified as 37-year-old Mayra Alejandra Sanchez of Granada Hills.
The crash remained under investigation.
A Sigalert issued at 3:47 a.m. closing the northbound 405 Freeway at the 101 Freeway was canceled at 8:10 a.m., the CHP stated.

That was my daughter’s sister in law! A life that could have been with us today. Shame on you Toyota driver! You took a person’s life. This family deserves justice!
That was my best friend Brittany! Mayra I am a GODLY woman but I sure do believe you deserve to rot in hell. You took away an angel because of your selfish act.
I am sorry for your loss, your friend was unfortunately under the influence of drugs and alcohol, knowingly drove her car with mechanical issues, and was involved in multiple collisions. Despite her actions, we have prayed for her, and to blame a single person without acknowledging her actions is not very GODLY of you.
