A man is seeking a default judgment against one of the security guard companies he maintains is liable for injuries he suffered when he was wrongfully pushed to the ground and beaten at the 2022 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio.

Attorneys for Ahmed Mokhtar filed court papers on Friday with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Teresa A. Beaudet asking her to direct the clerk of the court to begin the default process against Staff Pro LLC for allegedly failing to take part in the case. The clerk, citing technical grounds, turned away the plaintiff’s four prior requests to start the proceedings even though the judge agreed the rejections were improper, prompting the current motion, according to the plaintiffs’ attorneys’ court papers.

Other defendants in Mokhtar’s lawsuit, filed in February 2024, include event promoter Goldenvoice LLC, Prudent Security Solutions Inc. and IPS Security. Mokhtar alleges he was pushed to the ground by security guards on April 17, 2022, at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, then repeatedly beaten while he was defenseless. Mokhtar contends he feared for his life and that the attack was unprovoked.

In previous court papers, Goldenvoice attorneys denied Mokhtar’s allegations and cited multiple defenses, including assumption of the risk and that Goldenvoice did not have control of the area of the premises where the plaintiff contends he was injured.
