An investigation is underway Monday after Los Angeles Police Department officers fatally shot an armed suspect during a confrontation in Reseda.
Officers from the department’s Topanga Division were called at 12:10 a.m. Monday to Sherman Way and Geyser Avenue regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call near a 7-Eleven. When they arrived at the scene, an LAPD helicopter directed officers to the suspect’s location, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.
When they confronted him, police shot the man.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene, where they pronounced the suspect dead, the LAPD said.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
No officers were injured in the shooting, the LAPD said.
ABC 7 reported a handgun was found at the scene.
The area of Sherman Way from Geyser Street to Reseda Boulevard will be closed for several hours, police said.
